Mini Makeup Haul

I went shopping today and 'accidentally' came a way with a few makeup bits and bobs. I had no intention of buying makeup but... here we are.

I'm a bit of a foundation snob, I don't like cheap foundation on my skin, I panic my skin will break out. Powder is a different story. As far as I'm concerned it's just for setting foundation and doesn't really touch my skin directly (I'm sure it probably does but shh I don't want to be a powder snob too). I like to use a really fair powder and build colour up with bronzer and blusher.
I ended up buying a not-so-fair powder (because I was being hurried along by my sister).

W7 Sheer Loose Powder:
I've never tried a loose powder before and I only bought it because I couldn't find the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder. I feel like I'm wasting a lot on the brush and it goes on quite fluffy. It hasn't really lasted; I didn't really expect it too though. I probably won't buy it again but it will do until I get my Rimmel one.

Also being trialled for the first time is a W7 Eyeshadow in Golden Eye. I love a bit of shimmer so I thought this would fit nicely into my everyday routine. The pigment isn't very strong- you have to put a few layers on- but it does last for quite a while. It's perfect for going over the top of a similar colour and I adore the shimmery-ness. And for £1.50... bargain!
I have such a soft spot for lipsticks, lip balms and lip glosses so I'm always trying random brands. I love to keep topping it up so I'm not that bothered if it wears off reasonably quick.
I bought Smooch Lipstick in Sweet Tooth and I love it. The colour is so pretty, not quite as strong as you'd expect but I can't complain. It goes on so smoothly and looks quite glossy. I'll be buying more of these £1.50 bargains!

Then there is the Topshop Cream Blushers in Head Over Heels and Morning Dew. I was so excited to try these because I've heard some really good stuff about them. I decided to go for a peachy colour and a pinky colour. They're quite creamy but turn powdery- how cool is that?
My excitement quickly ended when I got home and realised Head Over Heels (the peachy one) had been opened and someones slimy finger hand been swirled around the top layer. Really? There are samples on the shelf. Use them. Please?
I'm not one for part used makeup, never mind by people who I don't know and people who's hands have been touching everything else in the shopping centre. This little blush will be marched back in to Topshop asap!
But other than that, I love Morning Dew. It's fresh and dewy (believe it or not, haha). This is going to be my go-to blusher for summer!
Advice to anyone who reads this: check your makeup hasn't been opened before you buy it!!

Have you ever tried any of these products?

  5. Great picks! I'm really loving the top shop blushes! I can't believe people just rip open packages and dip there finger in it without buying, I mean YUCK! Like you, I'm bit of a foundation snob as my skin breaks out pretty easily but I've been finding that the foundations from bourjois works for me so if you want to check it out! You have yourself a new follower! xx

    1. It's so gross but when there is a tester open why would you go through the bother of opening a new one? Bizarre! I'll have to give the Boujois foundations a try then, I've been varying mine between Mac and Rimmel Wake Me Up but I'm not completely satisfied with either. I did use Laura Mercier but at £33 and replacing it monthly, it's a little excessive! Thanks for the comment :)
